Trout fishermen were greeted with unusually great weather for the opening day of the season Thursday at Montauk State Park.
Temperatures were in the 30s for the 6:30 a.m. start, but the skies were clear and a warmup is expected today.
Over 2,000 anglers are expected to buy tags during the opener, and a busy weekend of fishing is also expected, with campsites full and no vacancy at Montauk Lodge and cabins in the park.
