Over 1,700 people attended the two-night rodeo held annually over Labor Day weekend.

The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce, with support from dozens of area businesses, brought the action back to Salem Saturday and Sunday.

Both nights were well-attended and several vendors reported success. Several vendors were raising money for school groups such as the Salem Marching Blue, Project Graduation, and others.

“The rodeo is a great annual event that brings our community together and welcomes visitors. It is always a great success due to the hard work and dedication placed in the planning of it,” said chamber vice president Sherida Cook.

Riders hailed from Missouri, Iowa, Oklahoma, Alabama, Florida and other states. Some were local as well, including, Melba Headrick, Tyffany LuCerne, Brady Hagler, Hannah Headrick, Jana Helton, David Headrick, and Justin Headrick, just to name a few.

“It was another phenomenal year at the rodeo. We continue to be grateful to our business community for sponsoring this event, they make it possible. It is always fun hearing visitors talk about how welcoming our community is. We look forward to next year!” said chamber director Tabatha Utley.
